WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 22 August 2021
Text: Ephesians 3
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or
think, according to the power that works in us,
21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.
Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. This is the concluding words of Paul’s 2 nd prayer for the Ephesians
2. He concludes on a strong note
3. Faith in who God is and what He can do
a) To Him who is able
i) God is indeed able
ii) Is there anything too hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:14
b) To do exceedingly abundantly
i) What God can do is impossible to measure
ii) He is able to do exceedingly abundantly
iii) Recall the mighty power of God recorded in Exodus
iv) His power is beyond human comprehension
c) Above all that we ask or think
i) Asking is praying to God
ii) God is able to answer beyond our prayers
iii) We must not limit God
d) Above all that we think
i) Human thoughts may be great
ii) God’s power is beyond human thoughts
e) According to the power that works in us
i) God’s power is working in us
ii) This power can help us achieve great things
4. Giving all glory to God
a) To Him be glory in the church
i) Let the Church always bring glory to God
ii) We must never lose this focus
b) By Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
i) Of course, it must be by the Lord Jesus
ii) And to all generations
iii) Forever and ever. Amen!
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. Review the 2 prayers of Paul
a) Ephesians 1 and Ephesians 3
b) Study the Contents carefully
c) May we learn to pray similarly
2. Let us determine
a) To become more and more prayerful as servants of the Lord!
b) May our churches be more fruitful, bringing glory to God
